SCCEBA to Host Business Roundtable on C-PACE

July 26, 2017 – Columbia, S.C. – The South Carolina Clean Energy Business Alliance (SCCEBA) is set to host a Business Roundtable meeting on Commercial-Property Assessed Clean Energy or C-PACE on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at the AGAPE Conference Center in Columbia, S.C.

Brian McCarter, CEO of SRS, an industry leader in administering C-PACE programs nationwide will present at the meeting. He will highlight the basics of C-PACE and how the innovative financing can help commercial building owners finance clean energy upgrades to improve their building stock and save on energy costs.

“I’ve been following South Carolina’s efforts to bring C-PACE to the state and am looking forward to engaging with C-PACE advocates in Columbia to answer questions about the program,” said Brian McCarter, CEO of Sustainable Real Estate Solutions, a technology-enabled services firm that partners with state and local governments to administer C-PACE programs nationwide. “C-PACE is unique in that it truly benefits every stakeholder, but it’s also a complex process, and states that are looking to introduce it typically have a great many questions. I’m eager to share lessons learned and best practices from our years of designing and implementing successful C-PACE programs across the country.”

Attendees will learn about national C-PACE market trends, best practices and right structuring for successful programs. The meeting will highlight first and second generation program structures that have been proven to work and also talk about how S.C. can work to position its C-PACE programs for success.

“CBRE manages millions of square feet of commercial space in S.C., and many of our clients would benefit from the innovative low cost financing C-PACE offers to provide energy efficient solutions in their facilities”, said Douglas Webster, Senior Associate, CBRE. “As a voluntary program, C-PACE can help landlords provide better indoor environments for the tenants while lowering the cost of building operations. It is definitely a winning opportunity for our state.”

“Energy Savings Performance Contracting programs have long enabled Federal, State, Higher Education, K-12 and other publicly funded agencies to increase energy efficiencies within all 50 States since the early 1990’s. In a similar manner, C-PACE continues to grow to provide cost effective financing alternatives for private-sector, multi-family and non-profit organizations who seek to lower their overall ownership and operations costs,” said Brad Van Meter, Comprehensive Solutions Account Manager, Trane Carolinas. “C-PACE provides economic revitalization, increases property values and most important – creates jobs. It will assist to continue to position S.C. as an innovator and market leader.”
